This is the first glove model from our new Varangian Outfitters brand. We've been making Kootamo gloves for over eight years now. During that time, thousands of pairs have found their way into bushcraft, outdoor adventures, knife work, firewood processing, and everything else that Mökkimies has become known for. But every now and then, you feel like building something a little different.

Varangian Outfitters was created from the idea of making more technical and tactically focused products without unnecessary gimmicks. For our first product, we chose a glove whose most important feature isn't thickness or armor-like protection, but the best possible feel and dexterity.

Many tactical gloves offer excellent protection, but at the same time they reduce tactile feedback and finger dexterity. With the Smooth Operator, we went in the opposite direction. The purpose of these gloves is to provide as much feel, mobility, and control as possible when your hands need to perform precise tasks.

Whether you're handling a firearm, adjusting gear, operating a radio, or simply working with equipment, these gloves are not meant to be the center of attention. At their best, they feel like you're barely wearing gloves at all.

Premium Aniline Goat Skin

The palm is made from premium-grade aniline goat skin. The soft leather provides excellent grip and natural tactile feedback without bulky reinforcements or unnecessary coatings. Goat leather is a popular choice whenever the goal is to combine comfort, durability, and excellent dexterity.

Pull them on and go

No hook-and-loop closures. No buckles. No unnecessary adjustments. Just pull them on, get to work, and take them off when you're done. The flexible Lycra back panel helps the glove adapt to different hand shapes while maintaining a comfortable fit without feeling restrictive.

How to measure the correct size

Open your hand naturally. Measure the circumference of your palm just below the knuckles, excluding the thumb. Compare the measurement to the size chart.

If you're between two sizes, we generally recommend choosing the larger size.
