Product info
Mechanix Original Needlestick is a protective work glove designed for situations where hands may come into contact with needles, sharp edges, glass or other puncture hazards. The ArmorCore™ construction protects the palm, sides of the fingers and fingertips, providing ASTM F2878 Level 2 needlestick puncture protection and ANSI A5 cut protection. The HiRoller™ construction extends the protective material around the fingertips for increased protection and durability. Breathable TrekDry® material on the back of the hand helps keep hands cooler, while the synthetic leather palm provides a secure grip and durability for demanding use.
The hook-and-loop wrist closure keeps the glove securely in place, the nylon loop makes storage and attachment easier, and touchscreen compatibility allows you to use a phone without removing the gloves.
Heat forming improves the fit
The Original Needlestick has a more rigid protective construction than a conventional work glove, so the manufacturer recommends heat forming the gloves before first use. Place the gloves inside an old T-shirt and heat them in a clothes dryer for approximately 15 minutes on high temperature, then put them on immediately while still warm.
Clench your fists tightly for approximately two minutes, form the finger gussets using the shaft of a screwdriver and straighten the fingers as needed. Finally, tightly grip a roughly 20 mm (3/4") pipe or broom handle for about one minute. This helps the materials conform to the shape of your hands and improves fit and mobility. The process can be repeated later if necessary.
Who are the Mechanix Original Needlestick gloves suitable for?
They are designed for work where needles, glass, metal or other sharp objects may present a puncture or cut hazard.
Do the gloves protect against needlestick punctures?
Yes. The ArmorCore™ construction provides ASTM F2878 Level 2 needlestick puncture protection.
Do the gloves also provide cut protection?
Yes. They offer ANSI A5 cut protection and an EN 388 rating of 4X44D.
Do the gloves need to be broken in before use?
