Kootamo Heritage Yellow are unlined leather gloves made from durable cowhide, designed for outdoor activities, bushcraft and a wide range of outdoor work. The classic yellow colour marks a return to Kootamo's roots, as yellow and black leather gloves were the very first products of our brand around 8–9 years ago. Now, the original style meets an updated design based on the pattern of our popular Kootamo Brown leather gloves.

Heritage gloves are made from sturdy yet flexible cowhide leather that gradually adapts to the shape of your hands. They offer a good combination of comfort, protection and dexterity in situations where ordinary thin work gloves may not be enough.

The familiar Brown model cut and external seams

The cut and appearance of the Heritage gloves are based on the Kootamo Brown model, which was selected as the Editor's choice in Retki magazine's bushcraft glove test in issue 3/2026. The Brown gloves received particular praise for their excellent fit, dexterity and practical construction.

The Heritage gloves also feature external seams along the fingers, reducing the pressure points that internal seams can create against the skin. This makes the gloves comfortable to wear when handling tools such as axes, folding saws or knives. The leather gradually moulds to the shape of your hands, improving the fit with continued use.

The leather used in the Heritage model is approximately the same thickness as in the Brown gloves, but with a lighter surface treatment. The gloves are not as heavily oiled, allowing you to maintain and condition the leather according to your own needs.

Leather gloves for outdoor activities, bushcraft and work

Heritage Yellow gloves are well suited for woodland activities, cabin life, firewood processing and general yard work. Carrying logs, preparing firewood, carving feather sticks and handling various tasks around camp are exactly the kinds of activities where quality leather gloves come into their own. The sturdy leather protects your hands from abrasion and rough surfaces while maintaining a good feel for the tools you are handling.

The unlined construction makes these gloves particularly versatile from spring through autumn. Although they are not dedicated winter gloves, they can also be used in winter with a pair of thin liner gloves underneath. If you plan to wear liner gloves, remember to allow some extra room when choosing your size.

A metal eyelet on the short cuff allows the gloves to be hung up to dry or attached to a backpack or belt using a carabiner. With use, the yellow leather gradually develops its own patina and character. These are gloves that are meant to look used.

Leather glove care and sizing

The leather should be treated regularly with a quality leather balm or wax to keep it supple and prevent it from drying out and cracking. Proper care also improves the leather's resistance to moisture. Wet gloves should be allowed to dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat sources.

If deciding between two sizes because your hand measures near both, choose smaller size.

Heritage gloves follow the same sizing as the original Kootamo Brown leather gloves. Measure the circumference of your palm just below the knuckles, excluding your thumb, and compare the measurement with the size chart. If your measurement falls between two sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size. The leather will gradually adapt to the shape of your hand.
