The Forest Fundamentals Trail Utility Panel is a versatile signalling and utility panel designed for hiking, bushcraft and general outdoor use. Its design takes inspiration from the well-known VS-17 panels used by the U.S. Armed Forces, while the construction and features have been adapted with outdoor and bushcraft use in mind.

Two Highly Visible Colours

The panel is double-sided, featuring bright pink on one side and high-visibility orange on the other. The pink side stands out particularly well in dense woodland and autumn landscapes, while the orange side provides excellent visibility against rocky terrain and other natural surroundings.

Each side features four reflective strips that catch and reflect light effectively, making the panel easier to spot in low-light and nighttime conditions.

The two-colour design also allows the panel to be used for simple communication and signalling within a group. It can, for example, be arranged in a cross formation to indicate a need for medical assistance or used to mark a campsite or meeting point. The included guide explains different configurations and ways to use the panel for conveying signals and messages.

Easy to Set Up

Eight reinforced attachment points make it easy to secure the panel between trees, attach it to a backpack or use it as a visible flag. The kit includes eight reflective ball bungees and 10 metres of reflective orange paracord, giving you plenty of options for setting up the panel in different environments.

All components are neatly stored in a bright orange drawstring bag made from 100% polyester. The bag also provides extra room for small essentials such as a headlamp or compact first aid kit.

More Than Just a Signal Panel

Made from double-layered 600D polyester, the Trail Utility Panel is more substantial and heavier than lightweight signalling panels. This added durability also makes it useful for a wide range of outdoor and bushcraft tasks beyond signalling.

Some practical bushcraft uses include:

Providing a clean, dry surface for processing tinder
Carrying firewood
Collecting water
Creating a work surface for small tools and equipment
Keeping sewing supplies or cooking utensils organised
