Tactical Foodpack Lentils Stroganoff is a vegetarian take on stroganoff, where meat is replaced with red lentils and the richness comes from a coconut-based sauce. Potato, sweet potato, red pepper, carrots and pickled cucumber make the dish filling and distinctly stew-like rather than just a simple lentil mash.

The meal contains 30% red lentils, which provide both protein and texture. Potato and sweet potato add substance, tomato puree deepens the flavour of the sauce, and pickled cucumber brings the familiar acidity associated with stroganoff. Paprika, parsley and white pepper finish the mild but rich flavour profile.

Stroganoff without meat

Lentils Stroganoff is a good choice when you want a vegetarian outdoor meal that still feels like a proper warm main course. Along with the lentils, the meal contains several vegetables and a coconut-based sauce, giving the dish both texture and richness without meat.

Tactical Foodpack prepares the meal as a complete dish before freeze-drying. This allows the flavours of the sauce, lentils and vegetables to develop before the water is removed. The flavour is smooth and creamy, while pickled cucumber and tomato keep the overall taste fresh enough. This is also a good choice for anyone who wants a break from meat- and pasta-based outdoor meals without giving up a satisfying portion.

Preparation is done by adding water directly to the pouch and allowing the meal to rehydrate. Tactical Foodpack freeze-dried meals can also be prepared with cold water when necessary, although stroganoff is best enjoyed warm, when the sauce develops a richer consistency and the lentils and vegetables rehydrate properly.
