Tactical Foodpack Chicken and Noodles is a smooth and satisfying outdoor meal for those who do not want every pouch to be built around chilli or a heavy tomato sauce. Durum wheat noodles and chicken are combined with a creamy coconut sauce, while carrots, mung bean sprouts, snow peas, peas, mushrooms and leek add both flavour and texture.

The meal contains 45% noodles and 15% chicken. Cream and coconut drink give the sauce a soft, rounded character, while the vegetables keep the overall flavour fresher than many heavier outdoor meals. Chicken and Noodles is one of Tactical Foodpack’s long-standing favourites, and its mild, approachable flavour makes it suitable for a wide range of tastes.

Freeze-drying preserves more than just calories

In a noodle dish like this, good texture depends on the noodles, chicken and vegetables retaining as much of their original structure as possible. Tactical Foodpack first prepares the meal as normal food and only then freeze-dries it, so the final pouch contains more than just a mixture of dry ingredients.

Chicken and Noodles is 100% freeze-dried. According to Tactical Foodpack, the method can retain up to 97% of the food’s original vitamins and minerals. At the same time, most of the water is removed, making the pouch lightweight to carry and giving the meal a long shelf life without refrigeration.

One serving contains 514 kilocalories and 23 grams of protein. The noodles provide readily available energy, chicken adds protein, and the creamy coconut sauce increases the energy content without making the meal feel like a simple carbohydrate-based snack.

The amount of vegetables also sets this apart from many more basic noodle meals. Carrots, sprouts, snow peas, peas, mushrooms and leek add variety to the dish, making it a good warm main meal for hiking, camping or other long days outdoors.

Preparation is done directly in the pouch by adding water and allowing the meal to rehydrate.
