Beef and Potato Pot is one of those outdoor meals with an immediately familiar flavour profile: potatoes, beef, vegetables and a rich sauce without unnecessary fuss. Tactical Foodpack’s version is a hearty, home-style stew where cream, tomato, garlic and spices bring the potatoes and beef together into a proper warm meal.

The meal contains 29% potatoes and 17% beef. Carrots, onions, tomatoes, pepper and celery add vegetables and texture, while cream makes the stew richer. It is also one of the Tactical Foodpack founder’s personal favourites, which fits the character of the meal well: it does not try to be fancy, just warm, filling and straightforward.

Home-style stew without the cooking pot

With potato and meat stews, texture makes a big difference. Tactical Foodpack prepares the meal first and only then freeze-dries it, helping preserve separate pieces of potato, meat and vegetables instead of turning the finished product into a uniform dry mixture.

Beef and Potato Pot is 100% freeze-dried. According to Tactical Foodpack, freeze-drying retains up to 97% of the food’s original vitamins and minerals while also helping preserve its original flavour and texture. With the water removed, the meal weighs considerably less than a ready-made stew, but returns to a hearty serving once water is added.

Plenty of energy and 30 grams of protein

One serving provides 510 kilocalories and 30 grams of protein. With 33 grams of fat, the meal’s energy content does not rely on carbohydrates alone. This makes the stew a good option when a warm meal also needs to keep hunger away.

Beef and Potato Pot works especially well in cool weather, after a long day of hiking, or on hunting and camping trips where a simple warm meat stew feels exactly right. The flavour is rich but traditional, making it a good choice for those who are not looking for curries, spicy food or more unusual seasoning combinations.

Preparation is done by adding water directly to the pouch and allowing the stew to rehydrate. Tactical Foodpack freeze-dried meals can also be prepared with cold water when necessary, but this is clearly a meal best enjoyed hot – that is when the potatoes, beef and creamy sauce work best together.

Beef and Potato Pot has a shelf life of up to 8 years from the production date, making it just as suitable for active outdoor use as it is for keeping at the cabin, in the car or as part of emergency supplies.
