Product info

The NEBO Galileo 500 is a powerful and versatile rechargeable LED lantern designed for camping, outdoor adventures, cabin use, and emergency lighting at home. With up to 500 lumens of brightness, selectable 120° and 360° illumination, stepless dimming, and red light modes, it provides practical lighting for a wide range of situations. The integrated 2600 mAh power bank function also allows you to charge USB-powered devices.

Adjustable 120° and 360° illumination

The Galileo 500 features NEBO's ARCUS technology, allowing you to direct the light across a 120-degree area or provide full 360-degree illumination around the lantern. The 360° setting is ideal for lighting up a tent, campsite table, or cabin living area, while the 120° mode provides more focused illumination for tasks such as cooking or working.

Smart Power Control enables stepless brightness adjustment, so you don't have to operate the lantern at full power all the time. The brightness memory function also allows you to return to a previously saved setting.

Five light modes – including red night lighting

The Galileo 500 offers three white and two red light modes. At its maximum output of 500 lumens, the lantern provides illumination up to 15 metres, while the lowest red light setting offers a runtime of up to 30 hours.

Red light is particularly useful for nighttime activities inside a tent or around camp, as dim red illumination helps preserve your eyes' adaptation to darkness compared to bright white light. The Direct-to-Red function allows you to activate the red light without cycling through the white light modes.

Light modes and runtimes:

360° High: 500 lumens, 3.5 hours runtime, 15 metres beam distance.
120° High: 175 lumens, 9 hours runtime, 13 metres beam distance.
360° Low: 40 lumens, 10 hours runtime, 4 metres beam distance.
Red High: 15 lumens, 12 hours runtime, 3 metres beam distance.
Red Low: 2 lumens, 30 hours runtime, 1 metre beam distance.

Runtimes are based on the manufacturer's specifications and may vary depending on operating conditions and battery condition.

Rechargeable battery and built-in power bank

The lantern is powered by an included 2600 mAh rechargeable 18650 lithium-ion battery. Charging is done via a Micro-USB cable, and the charging indicator displays the battery status: red indicates charging, while green indicates a fully charged battery.

The Galileo 500 can also function as an emergency power bank. A USB output located on the back of the lantern allows you to charge a smartphone or other small USB-powered device. This feature is especially useful during power outages or outdoor trips, although the 2600 mAh capacity is not intended to replace a larger dedicated power bank.

Who is the NEBO Galileo 500 suitable for?

The Galileo 500 is an excellent choice for campers, hikers, and cabin owners who want both wide-area illumination and softer ambient or nighttime lighting from a single lantern.

It is particularly well suited for tent camping, campervans, cabins, and emergency lighting at home. The carabiner-style carrying handle makes hanging the lantern easy, while its IPX4-rated construction provides protection against splashing water and light rain. However, the lantern is not fully waterproof.

Weighing just 230 grams, the Galileo 500 is a portable and practical all-purpose lantern. For extended backpacking trips where every gram and battery runtime matter, a lighter lantern or one with a larger battery capacity may be a more suitable option.

Is the NEBO Galileo 500 suitable for lighting a tent?
Yes. The 360-degree illumination distributes light evenly in all directions, while the adjustable brightness makes the lantern suitable even for smaller tents. The carabiner-style handle allows it to be hung from a suitable overhead attachment point.

Can the Galileo 500 charge a smartphone?
Yes. The lantern features a USB output that allows its 2600 mAh battery to charge a smartphone or another USB-powered device. The actual amount of charge delivered depends on the device's battery capacity and charging efficiency.

Is the NEBO Galileo 500 waterproof?
The lantern has an IPX4 water resistance rating, meaning it is protected against splashing water from all directions. It can withstand light rain but is not designed to be submerged in water.
