MFH Mixed Wheat and Coarse Rye Bread is a long-life rye-wheat bread made in Germany from local ingredients and packed in a 200 g can. The can contains five pre-sliced pieces of bread, so it is ready to eat without slicing or any other preparation.

What makes this bread especially unusual is its shelf life: the unopened can can be stored dry at room temperature for up to 10 years from the date of production without refrigeration. The best-before date of this batch is 12/2036.

Real bread for long-term storage

This is not dried crispbread or outdoor food that needs to be prepared with water, but ready-to-eat sliced bread. The dough contains rye, wheat and coarse rye, giving the bread a fuller and coarser texture than ordinary light-coloured canned bread.

The five ready-cut slices can be eaten as they are or combined, for example, with long-life canned Gouda cheese, canned sausage, liver sausage-style meat spread, vegetable spread or strawberry spread.
