The knife is a bit heavier on the tip, which makes it adequate for the abovementioned tasks, even though it doesn't exactly replace an axe. It's a more like a hybrid of a knife and an axe.

Order arrived quickly, thanks! The steel of the blade is better than expected, tried a bit of batoning, had no problem, so I guess it can take a bit of rough treatment, it's doesn't seem too brittle. Keeps the edge so and so. Tried a bit of machete action too, wasn't great but worked okay. Was a bit better after regrinding the cutting edge smoother. My main problem with it was that the handle was a bit loose, I could feel it moving. Otherwise not too bad for a bit of brush wacking etc. The sheath is quite good btw, hangs nicely and doesn't get in your way. Anyway, managed to loose the knife somehow and now I miss it so I guess it really wasn't too bad at all.
